Neuse Colony can be found east of Clayton off NC 42E, only a half hour away from Raleigh, and
45 minutes from RTP. In 2009, the area where Neuse Colony resides was recognized by
Business Week as one of the most affordable
places to live in the United States with the best schools.
The community is within walking distance to
recreation, shopping, dining,
daycare,
and East
Clayton Elementary school. Since Neuse Colony is outside of
Clayton city limits, only
Johnston County taxes are applicable.
A unique neighborhood, Neuse Colony is a private gated community of just over 100
custom homes on 253 acres, with prices that range from $275,000 to $1,500,000. There are
six miles of private paved walking trails along Neuse River, around five lakes, and
through a wildlife preserve. These trails wind through acres of mature hardwoods and
varying topography, and also overlook the
Neuse Golf Course.
A large number of the homes in Neuse Colony either have river or lake frontage with spacious
lots. Many of the remaining properties overlook the wildlife preserve. Most homes are situated
on at least an acre. In the Neuse Colony Estates section, lots range from 2 to 7.5 acres.
The neighborhood is run by a Board of Directors (all elected homeowners) and has the feel of a
small knit community that abounds with activities available to all its residents.
Neuse Colony children are fortunate to attend Johnston County schools. Our schools have
consistently ranked within the top 20% of schools in North Carolina, routinely producing
Honor Schools of Excellence. The Johnston County Schools website can be found
here.
