About

Neuse Colony can be found east of Clayton, NC off NC Highway 42 East, only about a half hour away from Raleigh, and 45 minutes from RTP. Neuse Colony is well known in Clayton as being "the original premier gated community" in the area. The community is within walking distance to recreation, shopping, diningdaycare, and East Clayton Elementary school. Since Neuse Colony is outside of Clayton city limits, only Johnston County taxes are applicable.

A unique neighborhood, Neuse Colony is a private gated community of just over 110 custom homes on 253 acres, with prices that range from $350,000 to $1,200,000. There are six miles of private paved walking trails along the Neuse River, over five lakes, and through a wildlife preserve. These trails wind through acres of mature hardwoods and varying topography, and also overlook the Neuse Golf Course.

A large number of the homes in Neuse Colony either have river or lake frontage with spacious lots. Many of the remaining properties overlook the wildlife preserve. Most homes are situated on at least an acre. In the Neuse Colony section, lots range from .68 to 1.97 acres and 2.03 to 7.46 acres in the Estates section. The neighborhood is run by a Board of Directors (all elected homeowners) and has the feel of a small knit community that abounds with activities available to all its residents.

Neuse Colony children are fortunate to attend Johnston County schools, which serve more than 37,000 students in grades pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade.
